Thanks for purchasing this album by the Whitetop Mountain Band. This is our 19th album release and our first album recorded at Studio 808a in Floyd, VA. This album was recorded live in one room over the span of 5 hours on April 1st, 2023, with the exception of Down South Blues, Billy Goat Boogie, and Spider’s Nest Blues, which were recorded at Big Tone Studios in Bristol, VA in February of 2020. We’d like to dedicate the entire album to the memory of Thornton Spencer, our former bandleader. Thornton owned and ran Spencer’s Grocery in Whitetop, VA; the country store was the site of countless jam sessions during the 1970s.
We would like to thank all of the special guests who appear on the album, detailed in the credits below. A special thanks to Wes Freeman for the CD cover design, The Crooked Road for their support, and to Ruthie Young for the use of her paintings on the inner sleeve and disk.
